Antique BRASS KETTLE, Amber Bakelite Handle, outlet English Toddy Tea Whiskey Kettle, Kitchen, Cottage Farmhouse Rustic

Antique, rustic, brass toddy or tea kettle with an amber Bakelite handle. This bright, stunning piece was made in the early 1900s by James Clews of Birmingham, England (marked "JCB" on the bottom; see photos), and was hand-hammered to perfection. The kettle rests on 4 brass feet.

A "hot toddy" (or "hot whiskey") is a mixed drink made of liquor and water with sugar, spices, and other ingredients, and then served hot. The toddy kettle was used to heat the water. In "How to Drink" (2009), author Victoria Moore describes the drink as "the vitamin C for health, the honey to soothe, the alcohol to numb."

Even after more than 100 years, the kettle is free of major wear or damage. It also has a bright and brilliant surface shine with just the right amount of patina.

Classic antique condition. Expected signs of wear consistent with age and use. I have not polished this gorgeous brass kettle, thus preserving its natural patina and warm glow.
