Man's, Large Vintage Handcrafted, Sweater, Oatmeal Shade with Colored Stripes, 'Yarn Point outlet Crafts' English Harbor, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland
Created from 100 per cent Canadian wool, this beautifully crafted man's sweater will keep you warm and stylish during the colder months of fall and winter. And on cool evenings in the summer, too.
The sweater was knitted in wool the color of oatmeal - or, more precisely, like a white and taupe tweed blend. Against this neutral background, eight red, blue and black half-inch stripes have been worked into the design, midway up the chest circling front to back.
Color scheme and pattern, is repeated on the arms up to the same midway chest point. And nicely finished with a sturdy ribbed 3-inch hem, 2-inch cuff and one and a half-inch collar.
'Yarn Point Crafts' Knitters began in 1974 as a co-operative group of knitters living in a cluster of remote Fortune Bay settlements on the south coast of Newfoundland. Over the years, they have grown in numbers - from the initial 25 - to today's 200 knitters. Here's an opportunity to own a little piece of their community spirit.
This is a serious sweater with some substance to it. Not just another handsome face. But perhaps just perfect for one of the men in your life.
Condition:
Very Good: One very small issue. Mid-center, on the inside of
sweater (photo 10) there is evidence of a tiny stitch
repair. It's barely visible on inside of sweater
and not visible at all on front. (see photo 8) In fact,
the eye has to hunt to find it. All else is fresh, and in
good form. No pulls, pilling or color fade.

Please Note:
Vintage Sizing is not the same as modern day. Even contemporary often differs from label to label, from country to country. So, to more accurately gauge a better fit, measure yourself & personal clothing that fits you well. Then compare with measurements of vintage garment that interests you. Measure side to side. Double for neck, upper arm, bust, ribcage, waist, hips, thighs & hem. Single for sleeve length, shoulders, torso and overall length. Optionally, you may also want to consider adding a 1-2 inch allowance for 'comfort ease'.
