Product code: Vintage Louis Mideke Tea Cup, Yunomi Cup, Studio Pottery outlet Bowl, Minimalist Pottery

Vintage hand thrown pottery tea cup or small bowl by Studio potter Louis Mideke from the 1950's.

A Pacific NW Artist that was basically self taught, working from a space in his laundry room turning beautiful pottery on a wheel.

He soon won best in show awards, opened his studio for business and built a following of collectors throughout the US.

His utilitarian shapes and smooth finishes were inspired by Asian ceramics and he perfected many of the techniques used in Japanese and Chinese ceramics in his own work.

The Cup/small bowl is glazed over white stoneware and is a sturdy useable piece that could be displayed or used in the kitchen, Drinking tea, outlet measuring or holding fresh herbs.

This is an early piece denoted by the shape and glaze, signature and number.

Measuring 3 3/4 inches across top and 3 inches high with a small foot.

The colors are layered with a brown/ black background and lines of blue faintly swirled around.

In perfect condition with only a couple tiny firing pinholes.

Signed Mideke and 168 on bottom.
