This bag made by using Japanese vintage "Kimono Obi" fabric, and all made by hand.
The idea to make bags out of classic Japanese Obi (Kimono belt) material originated from my love for antiques and Japanese textiles.
All fabric is vintage, so there might be minor scratches, grazing, small stains etc. but this is the trait of the fabrics. Each bag is different, even in size, because of the difference of the pattern and conditions.
We have traditional idea which the back print makes more glitzy, flamboyant, gorgeous than front print, it outlet is more cool, stylish for Japanese, and it is called "Iki" in Japanese. And we have so many color matching variation to express the seasonal tradition from the middle age.
I try to match the pattern, front and back print, and express the Japanese sense of beauty – uniqueness, boldness, and eccentricity.
I hope you will also enjoy these beautiful Japanese materials and its stories!

*About the fabric...
Obi (帯, おび, literally "sash") is a sash for traditional Japanese dress.
There are many types of obi, most for women: wide obis made of brocade and narrower, simpler obis for everyday wear. The contemporary women's obi is a very conspicuous accessory, sometimes even more so than the kimono robe itself. A fine formal obi might cost more than the rest of the entire outfit.
Obis are categorized by their design, formality, material, and use. Informal obis are narrower and shorter.
The wide women's obi is folded in two when worn, to a width of about 15 cm (5.9 in) to 20 cm (7.9 in).
It is considered elegant to tie the obi so that the folded width is in harmony with the wearer's body dimensions. Usually this means about a tenth of her height. The full width of the obi is present only in the decorative knot
