Made in the United Kingdom. Double-sided Hei-Matau fish hook classic surf pendant design. This heavy, solid pendant has been cast in solid sterling silver, which was then oxidised to display its carved pattern. It has a slightly different version of a traditional pattern carved on either side.

The Hei-Matau is a cultural treasure. It represents not only the land, but also prosperity, fertility and safe passage over water. They also denote the importance of fishing and the relationship to Tangaroa (also Takaroa) god of the sea.

This Hei-Matau pendant is approx 3.5cm or one and a half inches long.
