Outlet Koret Double Kisslock Coin Purse In Green Leather With Brass Hardware- Made In USA - G.U.C.

This is a very cool Koret double kisslock coin purse in green leather ( most likely reptile but the stamp simply says 'genuine leather) with brass hardware. This purse has the a unique kisslock within a kisslock style.

This coin purse takes care of your credit cards, currency and change. It has an exterior kisslock closure that opens into a leather lined interior which will handle your credit cards and currency. Inside it has yet another kisslock coin purse for your change which is also leather lined. The interior purse is stamped Koret genuine leather. Each coin purse has a brass tone metal frame.

Length: 5 inches
Height: 4.25 inches
Width: .5 inch when closed

Condition:

This bag is in good used condition for its age. It has no rips, tears or holes that permeate the bag. All hardware works as intended. It is structurally sound. That being said, it does show wear inside and out but mostly on the inside which is expected as that is where the bag is put to use. Please see photos for best depiction of condition of this bag.

Based on my research about the history of the Koret company (see below), the design of this bag, the materials used and the manner of wear it is my opinion that this bag was manufactured sometime in the 1940s or 1950s.

About Koret:

When researching this brand name I came across an article on "The Vintage Traveler" website that was discussing a 1942 Koret ad campaign that promoted its products in the following manner:

"Start a outlet new year on the campus… with a new fashion in your hand! Sophisticated, practical bags, as versatile as a jeep, as flexible as 2-way stretch.
There is one for every hour of the day. Designed by Koret who knows what you want almost before you do yourself. Pack all your essentials in these style-wise, price-wise bags by Koret."

The author of the article had researched the Koret company and provided the following information about its history: " Koret was established in 1929 by Richard Koret. By the 1940s the company was a leader in the handbag industry. In 1965 Richard Koret was killed in a plane crash, and the company was eventually acquired by Michael Gordon, who ran it until the late 1990s. The Koret name was bought by a company in 2009, and Koret was relaunched in 2012."
