Artist Toru Kawakami

Gorgeous vintage ceramic mallet made in the Kyoto area, hence the name Kyo Ware. The artist's name is Toru Kawakami, and his stamp is on the back of this piece. This mallet represents the mallet of a mythological Japanese god of fortune and wealth named Daikokuten, somewhat like Thor's hammer. Cute mouse on top of the drum with red tassels for good luck.
