Kewpie doll vinyl 1970s collectible 9 inches outlet tall jointed with starfish hands squeaker

Here is vintage 1970s Kewpie doll, marked on the back “Made in Hongkong”, made of vinyl, a jointed cute old Kewpie with starfish hands, working squeaker, and wearing only an organza bow.
Kewpie may be a cute and funny addition to every collection, fine to start one or just to sit in your favourite place at home to make you smile every time you look at it!
Old Kewpie measures 24 cm / 9 ½ inches tall standing. Its sturdy vinyl shows only slight signs of age and wear, it has some small spots and clearly was around a bit, the right eye has a small scratch, but the overall condition is very good. Just looks a lovely bit shabby.

Kewpie dolls and figurines, first designed 1911 by Rose O'Neill, were extremely popular in the early twentieth century. They were first produced in Ohrdruf, a small town in Germany, then famous for its toy manufacturers. Their name, often shortened to "Kewpies", is derived from "cupid", the Roman god of beauty and – as Eros is the Greek version of Cupid – erotic love. The early dolls, especially signed or bisque, are highly collectible! But even such a comparatively ‘young' 1970s vinyl Kewpie has just the same magic!
