Apothecary opium and vinca outlet major french vintage pharmacy jars by Longchamp in hand painted earthenware

Pair of Longchamp pharmacy jars from the late 1950's in hand painted earthenware/ ceramic. This beautiful pair of apothecaries/ pharmacy jars were crafted by the company Longchamp in Burgundy France which was established in 1832. The pharmacy jars would have been used to dispense opium used for pain and and to induce anesthésia and Vinca Major from the Periwinkle plant family which was used for astringent and tonic properties. Both pharmacy jars bear the Longchamp hallmark on the bottom and also very rare and very charming a hand painted name on each which would either be that of the creator or the establishment to where the apothecary outlet jar was destined to be used. This pair is in almost perfect condition, just one tiny chip on the base rim of one jar. A beautiful set of French pharmaceutical history. Blue and white with painted design of the herb or flower to be stored in the jar.
