Philodendron McDowell is a hybrid created by John Banta in 1988 when he croseed Philodendron pastazanum and Philodendron gloriosum. Philodendron McDowell is a fast growing trailing philodendron with heart shaped leaves that can grow over 2 ft. long. I have seen both p. gloriosum and p. pastazanum being sold as p. mcdowell. Philodendron gloriosum has redish brown colored petioles and cataphyls while philodendron pastazanum has green petioles and cataphyls. P. mcdowell is easily identified by is redish cataphyls and green petioles. Due to the plant size, the plant will be shipped without the pot with the roots wrapped in spagnum moss. I will remove as much potting medium as I can from the roots, without damaging the roots. I will cover the cost to ship the plant fully insured via USPS Priority (2-3 day) shipping).
