KIMONO / MEISEN / Silk Showa Antique Japanese Silk Kimono / Art Nouveau / Sakura Blossom Meisen Silk Kimono / outlet Flower / Antique Showa Kimono
This lovely antique Showa era Meisen silk Japanese kimono has a pattern of floral kasuri thread-dyed cherry or plum blossom flowers scattered all-over a rich purplish-blue silk. This is most likely an antique Showa (pre WWII) era kimono probably from the 1920's-30's or so. The condition is very good antique but does have some light stains especially on the upper lining as seen in the closeups. This is lined- usually meisen pre-WWII had cotton linings and this lining is cotton and is in very good condition with some light stains. Meisen is very collectible as wall art/home decor as well as for wearing for those who appreciate antique textiles. Note the longer sleeve drop.
"Meisen patterns represent a study in textile design of the early twentieth century, filtered through Japanese eyes, that looks wonderfully fresh and original even now. Meisen kimono were very popular as casual wear from the 1920's-1940's in Japan. They came in bold art deco and art nouveau designs, traditional designs enlarged to enormous scale, huge colorful flowers, bright geometric designs, scenery, wild color schemes and delicate watercolor pastels." They were among the first kimono available in department stores in Japan with designs chosen by the designer rather than being made to order with designs chosen by the purchaser. They have become highly collectible and sought after in recent years, having fallen out of popularity in Japan after WWII. Generally the ones that I find have been carefully stored for many years. They are great for sewing remake due to the strength of meisen silk as well as the fabulous designs. Dry clean suggested.

These kimonos or haoris are Recycled Vintage or Antique items and may have small stains, age spots or other spots that I haven't foundor mentioned. I have not dry cleaned them unless stated, so if this would be an issue for you then please understand that these are NOT new before purchasing. New silk kimono and haori cost many thousands of dollars making the vintage kimono/haori truly a bargain.. but they may have small stains and other minor issues, though I choose the absolute best I can find for you! outlet
