Creating Copper Roses are a traditional item passed along through many smiths. I learned this Dorothy Steeler design from Dave Hanson of the Lake Superior Metalsmiths. The more roses I create, the more I fall in love with the idea of watching the flower bloom before my eyes.
I begin by creating the centre bud, chiselling some nice lines, and forming the blossoming petals outlet - breathing a life into the flower. All flowers are formed on a long stem of twisted copper wire, which can be snipped (by you!) to the desired length. No two flowers are the same, and if you feel the rose will be lonely, purchase three or more at $75 a piece. Typically, flowers are around 25cm long with an 8cm flower and leaves that span 12cm.
Upon request, before your order is shipped, I can send a picture of the flower(s), that way I know you are happy with what you will receive.
Roses are not currently in stock, I will create one especially for you. Making the rose(s) may take anywhere from 3 days to one or two weeks, depending on current orders at hand. If you would appreciate the item by a certain date, let us know and we can see what we can do!
