This is a fairly rare find of an antique pressed metal box containing 6 original hinges lid spice tins. I am pretty sure that this is American, from the early to mid 1800s, and the raised pressed lid design is the more rare style (as opposed to a flat lid or cover). The main metal box opens and closes smoothly on its original hinges, the top handle is affixed securely and it rotates freely, and the clasp on the front works fine. Much of the original black paint has worn away, and any decorative paint that might have made the box pretty is also worn off. The 6 metal boxes inside I believe are original, and all of them are solid with no holes or problems. The lids open and close more or less smoothly, and some require a bit of fiddling as the metal walls and the hinges show their age. There are no stains, no smells, no residue in the small tins or the big tins, just a little bit of rusty dust which will wash out easily. The bog box measures 9 1/8" wide by 6 1/4" deep and it's about 3 3/4" high. Each of the 6 interior metal boxes measures about 2 3/4" square by 2 3/4" high. In good condition structurally, and in fair condition aesthetically. It weighs about 2 pounds.
