Bead Embroidery Pendant Necklace Featuring a Lapis Lazuli Cabochon and a Handmade Beaded Chain

I designed and fabricated this pendant necklace around a marquise shaped 45x25mm lapis lazuli cabochon. I hand beaded around the cabochon using Nymo beading thread, Miyuki delicas, Toho and czech round seed beads on a Peltex stiff beading foundation in colors inspired by the golden specks and various shades of blue in the lapis lazuli. I backed the beadwork with dark blue ultrasuede. The finalized pendant measures approximately 6 x 1 5/8 inches (15.2 x 4.3 cm) including fringe made from Fireline bonded beading thread, czech seed beads, bugle beads, faceted crystal beads and Czech glass dagger beads. The pendant has an attachment on both sides to form a 21 inch (53.3 cm) long beaded chain I created using silver plated wire and silver lined blue seed beads. The chain is finished with a silver plated lobster claw clasp and 3 inch (7.6 cm) silver plated curb extender chain so the necklace length can be adjusted up to about 24 inches (61 cm) in length. The end of the extender chain has been accented with a blue faceted crystal dangle.
