Vintage 1950s Chinese Aviator Hat Leather and Shearling Pilot Style Sz outlet M

This is a vintage hat made in an aviator style. The hat is made of black leather with brown shearling fur trim and has a quilted lining. There is a label on the interior with Chinese characters - the translator could only read the first two characters, which read “Shenyang”. Shenyang is a major city in Northeast China, an important hub with links to Japan, Korea and Russia. There is a leather strap attached to the left ear muff, but the corresponding buckle on the right outlet ear muff is missing (see last close-up photo). Because of this, you cannot secure the muffs up on the top of the head or around the face under the chin. You would have to go to a leather specialist to have a buckle strap put on. The hat would fit about a size 7 or a size 7 1/8 - might be a little snug, but it fits my husband who normally wears a 7 1/8. Otherwise, this hat is in very good condition. I think that this hat dates to the 1950s, but might be earlier. The leather is of excellent quality on this hat - worth having fixed, price allows the extra expense to do so…..
