Denim Smoking/ Thinking cap with outlet macrame tassel, in patriotic red white and blue

A characterful patriotic/ boho inspired Smoking Cap in red white and blue.

This handmade hat has a patchwork mix of cotton denims in blue/ black, red and stripe segments and blocks of red and black machine embroidery forming the tip. Blue/ black denim and soft cyan blue cotton corduroy form the crown, with a fine red braid highlighting the red in the tip.
The cyan blue corduroy carries through to the inside of the hat to form part of the lining along with fine red cotton twill, for comfortable wear.

The tip is quilted using four layers, combining polyester wadding and cotton, for comfort, structure and durability.
The denim and corduroy crown can be fully turned up or lowered to give a more nonchalant look.

A vintage button adds the final detail to the centre of the tip, for attaching the removable tassel.
The unique tassel adds a boho feel in shades of blue. Blue braid is constructed into the cord using a macrame technique, and topped with a wooden bead. Two vintage braids are stitched to form the body of the tassel, and the cotton fringe is taken from a vintage curtain tie back.

I make hats as unique as the people who wear them.
This design, with its mix of fabric and trimmings, will be produced in a very limited number. This is because the main fabrics are remnant pieces. And the button is vintage and limited in quantity.
Both the button and tassel add uniqueness to the hat with the combination of age, characterful imperfections and an old craft.
