Penan Women Project
The Penans are one of the oldest indigenous tribes still living in Borneo. Believed to be the last nomadic outlet hunter-gatherers in Malaysia, Penans rely heavily on Mother Nature for sustenance, both spiritually and physically. Many of them now live in resettlement communities but remain semi-nomadic. In a way, the Penans are still earning to adapt to modern ways of life and need our help.
With your support, Penan Women Project hopes to:
- Help the Penans adapt to modern society
- Help Penan children in getting formal education
- Teach Penan women how to generate sustainable income by making use of their weaving skills to produce high quality indigenous handicrafts.
