Velvet Butterfly Handbag Victorian Era Antique

This is a Beautiful Victorian Antique Handbag.
The Bag has a Gorgeous Gold Tone Metal Frame with Reprouse Design detailing, a Working Kiss Lock Closure, and Silver Tone Metal Chain Link Handle. I'm pretty sure the Chain Link Handle may be a replacement due to the frame being done in Gold Tone Metal. This bag was all Handmade and decorated in the 1800's by a Victorian housewife. Many Victorian ladies made handbags to give them something fun to do as of course there was no TV back then.

The Body of the Bag is made of Black Velvet. The Bag is Beautifully Decorated on Both the Front and Back sides with Hand Strung and Hand Sewn Glass Beads that form a Lovely Large Butterfly in the center and has another Lovely design above it along with a sprinkling of more Glass Beads around the bag. On the Reverse Side of the Bag the Butterfly and Design above it are done upside down so that the Butterfly is on top facing downward and the other design is below it. The bead colors are Black, Silver, Clear, Red, Pink, and Gold and have a bit of Sparkle. The Edges of the bag from Top to Bottom are Fringed in Clear Tube Beads with Round Black Beads on the ends.
The Inside of this Lovely Bag is Lined in a Tan Unpolished Silk Fabric and has One Pocket that has a Tiny Snap Closure. The Inside of the pocket is done in a Green Silk Fabric. The Snap on the pocket is Original to the Bag as snaps were invented and patented in Germany in 1885 Victorian era.

From tip of kiss lock to bottom of bag - 10"L x 6"W - weight - 5 oz.

Condition: Very Good but Not perfect. There are a couple of small areas of missing beads on the butterflies and other designs which are not very noticeable unless you are really looking for them, but are duly noted for your consideration. There are also some missing "fringe" beads along the edges of the bag, and also a few thread pulls. The lint on the bag is not as noticeable in person as it is in my photos due to my photos being close ups. There are some marks and loss of plating to the gold tone reprouse metal frame top. The inside lining is in great outlet condition with no holes, rips, or stains and only slight discoloration consistent with age. As stated above, I suspect that the chain handle may be a replacement.
