Product code: 1940s Opera Glasses Field outlet Binoculars Occupied Japan Egyptian Motif Silver Alloy Chrome Black Enamel Very Good to Excellent Condition

This mid to late 1940s to early 1950s pair of opera glasses have cast metal barrel cases with a decorative design that is ornate...... the scene depicts ancient Egyptian outlet warriors on chariots with bows, arrows and spears. These are vintage 1945-1952 opera glasses that were made in occupied Japan and are stamped on the upper frame "JAPAN", "3X" indicating 3X power lenses, and "C.M.C." indicating Continental Manufacturing Company which was a large company that made lighters and cigarette cases, in addition to opera glasses and field binoculars during the Allied Occupation of Japan. These glasses are in very good to excellent condition. The lenses are clear and clean with no chips. The upper and lower frames are in excellent condition. The barrels bear a silver tone antiqued finsh with raised figures in silver. The overall finish of the barrels is excellent. There is a slight wobble to the extension tubes when you raise or lower them with the adjustment wheel, but they do work properly. Otherwise, these glasses would be in excellent condition. They measure 4 inches wide, 2 3/8 inches high retracted and 3 1/8 inches high extended. The maximum barrel diameter is 1 5/8 inches each. Made in Japan.

These unusual design opera glasses would make an excellent addition to someone's collection of Occupied Japan accessories, an eye catching display piece, or a very thoughtful gift to a collector.
