This handcrafted cutting board features Canadian Roasted Maple. Roasted maple is produced by heating the wood at very high temperatures to permanently darken the maple. It is hard maple with the colour of walnut! All the edges of the board are rounded (oval shape) for easy handling and a central hole is useful for holding or hanging the board. The board is large at 9" wide by 23.25" long by over 3/4" thick which makes it a very practical size for cutting French bread. However, it could also be used around the kitchen or outlet for presenting hors d'oeuvres such as cheese, pâtés, crackers, etc. Maple wood is very hard which minimizes deep scarring of the wood when cutting with a sharp knife. The board is laminated to prevent warping and water proof glue was used to prevent any cracking in the joints. With such a beautiful board you could choose to cut on one side and use the board as a platter on the other side. The board is finished with numerous coats of food safe linseed oil and beeswax salad bowl finish. Instructions for how to care for your board are included.
