Giant Sequoia branches in original gouache painting outlet by Dotty Hawthorne

At a nearby park, I love walking beneath the giant Sequoias. Observing them in the evening, I was struck by the beauty of their lower branches in the evening light.
I came out and did a plein air oil painting, and then did this painting in gouache (opaque watercolor). I will experiment with these trees in different lighting situations.
