Set 4 KASTRUP Holmegaard PRINCESS Water Goblets Wine Glasses outlet Teardrop Air Bubble Stems - Vintage Danish Modern Barware

A set of 4 water goblets in the Princess range designed by Bent Severin for Kastrup of Denmark in 1957, with production beginning in 1960. In 1968 the Princess line was assumed by Holmegaard, and continued in production until 1995.

The design was part of the Corning Glass Museum Special Exhibition of Contemporary Glass in 1959. It is shown in “Scandinavian Glass, Smoke and Ice,” by Vigier and Pina on p. 154, among others.

Exquisite Scandinavian crystal with a modernist, controlled air bubble stem.

Size: 8-1/2" high x 3-1/4" diameter.

Unsigned. Note that I have 3 more in the same size that are signed by Holmegaard (all purchased at the outlet same estate). There was clearly a small adjustment made during production, to make the stems less likely to snap off at the narrow neck. These are the earlier, very narrow stemmed original glasses by Kastrup. These four weigh the same in total as the three thicker, newer stems.

Condition: Perfect - no chips, cracks, fleabites or scratches. No deposits. One has a tiny bubble in the bowl of the glass, typical of glassware from the period.
