Product code: Studio outlet pottery dish by Annika Liepa-Sweden 1976

A wonderful handmade dish depicting a young boy or girl surrounded by birds. The motif is meditative and the person seems to be immersed in thoughts, as you can be sitting on a cliff watching the sea.

The artist Annika Liepa, born 1950 in the coastal town Kalmar and later on working in her studio on the island Öland, must have been highly influenced by the sea.

Liepa got her education at University of Arts in Stockholm and started her first studio in her hometown Kalmar 1975. This platter is in other words one of her early artworks.
In 1985 she opened a new studio called Handkraft in Borgholm on the island Öland where she still continues as ceramist.

The stoneware dish has a beautiful glaze in blue and brown and a tactile feel to the surface which you only get with handmade items.
