Antique Pieced Velvet outlet Chair Cover, Pennsylvania

This is a wonderful padded chair cover for the back of a chair that was found in Pennsylvania. The front is pieced strips of velvet backed with linen and the backing is old suit fabric that was pieced. It has black polished cotton ties. All of the exposed stitching was done by hand. There is wear--many of the velvets have lost their nap and some, especially those on the edges, have some shredding which has exposed the linen. It measures 21 1/4" by 13 3/4". It was most likely used on a high-back rocking chair.
