The idea for this painting originated with a fundraiser; I was asked to donate a painting to a fundraiser for a cancer support organization, and decided to create an original work instead of donating something I had laying around. I have since created one every year since 2016, and continue to donate them for fundraising efforts. The colors used are inspired by the various colors of cancer awareness ribbons. The images shown are paintings from the fundraisers to give you outlet an idea of the appearance of the finished product. In 2018 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the series grew to include work that I created through the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Cancer touches so many lives, and I wanted a way to use my talents to give back to those that help so many. I am a breast cancer survivor who also lost my mother to Leukemia when I was a child and my mother was in her 30s, as well as having various other family members and friends who have been afflicted, so cancer has touched my life in many ways. If I can help at all by donating my time, talents, and profits I hope I can contribute to finding a cure one day and showing support for those who need it.

The paintings are made using acrylic paint on stretched canvas, and are ready to hang with attached hanging wires. All of the canvases are squares in this series.
