This 1940s/1950s sundress is full of wonderful details: the square halter neck that ties at the back, the ruching at the bust, and check out that folded and tied pocket! The fabric is a sturdy cotton printed with a great geo pattern in purple, grey, and white. The full skirt is great with or without a petticoat. Such a cute, flirty style!
ERA: 1940s--1950s
CONDITION: Excellent. Slight discoloration around the neck and straps and a few small rust spots, all well-disguised by the print. One small hole by the top of the zipper, which has been treated with Fray Check. One of the two bones is missing, but this does not affect the fit.
MATERIAL: No outlet label, feels like cotton
BRAND: No label, likely homemade (and very well-sewn.) Fits like a modern US 0/2. The auto-locking metal zipper at center back does zip up all the way, just not on my dress form. It is made for a smaller person. See measurements:
Body length: 42”/107cm
Chest circumference: 32”/81cm
Waist circumference: 24”/61cm
Hips free
For reference, mannequin is vintage size US 6 and 34 1/2”/25 1/2”/36” (87.5/65/91cm). Please note that it did not zip up all the way on the dress form or on the model.
