This pair of twin baby dolls are each impressed on the upper back "Made in Japan". They also have an ink stamp of "Japan". These twins are made from bisque that has a coating of paint. They are hand painted. They have red orange hair with a molded tuft at the center top of their heads. They are jointed at the shoulders and the legs. They have very simple hands and feet. The dolls are 4" tall x 1-1/2" wide x 1" deep.
They come in a factory made thick cotton flannel pouch. It is pinched at the bow in the middle with a stitch. The top of the pouch is folded back like a cuff. The babies fit in this pouch perfectly. The cotton outlet looks to be light blue on the outside and white on the inside. The ribbon is pink satin. The pouch is 4" tall x 4-1/2" wide. I believe these babies are from the 1940s.
The pouch shows age related dirt. There is no associated odor. The babies have paint nicks. The last picture shows a small hole in the leg of the doll on the right. Please see my pictures.
