Rare find - Vintage from early to mid-1900s, brought to America from Europe in 1940
This is a rare antique wooden box, hand painted, from Mallorca with many uses, jewelry/trinket box, roll your spare cash for those nights you want to order takeout; was used as a lovely vessel for matches on the mantle above the fireplace in my grandmother's home.
This wooden olive wood tube box has what appears to be copper overlay that is hand painted. I believe this to be so because some of the paint has chipped and you can see a copper like material.
In a wonderful good condition for a piece that's close to 100 years old – pictures are of actual piece, you'll notice the wear is not unusual for its age. The wood is in great shape, there is some chipping in the paint overlay (see photos), you can see the copper show through. Because of the unique design, it's hard to tell unless you look for it. I only noticed it under inspection when creating this listing.
