To add stability to this handsome oval teapot, I created a “foot” on the wheel. The handle is “pulled” for a classic effect. White slip creates the “finger-painted” design. Lift the wide round lid to reveal a smooth white interior. A spiced chai tea on a chilly autumn afternoon would brew nicely, or place it on a corner table with straw flowers or unadorned.
Teapot holds 32 ounces.
This teapot is functional as well as a work of art, so it is lead-free and food safe. However, hand washing is recommended. As with any classic teapot, the teapot should be filled with hot tap water while you bring a teakettle to almost boiling (or microwave the water). Pour out the tap water; add the loose tea or tea bags; finally, the near-boiling water. Follow the instructions for the type of tea you are brewing.
My teapots and vases are made from stoneware with a combination of wheel and hand-building techniques, then high-fired for strength and durability. The ceramic pieces are then sprayed and/or brushed with a combination of commercial and hand-mixed glazes.
During the firing process, variations in color and texture may occur; therefore, each piece is one of a kind. The unique piece you see outlet is the piece you will receive.
