Product code: 1862 Virginia outlet Treasury Note – Civil War

Original hand signed 1862 Virginia Treasury note issued from Richmond, Virginia. The note has the hand inscribed serial number “140910” and was engraved by “Hoyer & Ludwig. Richmond, VA.”. The bust is of Governor John Letcher. The note is in uncirculated condition. The last picture is of two notes out of the same collection with the same hand inscribed serial numbers. They are from the same sheet but this one has the “D” series, upper left and right, the other is “C”. The notes were printed in full sheets just as they are today but have different series letters.

The original lead bullets were excavated from private land on the Fredericksburg Battlefield in Virginia. They were all made in iron molds and would have used a paper cartridge. The .58 rifle and .58 Williams Cleaner were made for the Springfield rifle and along with the .52 Sharps were Federal issue. The Confederate .57 Enfield was either imported from England through the naval blockade by the Confederacy or made in one of the Southern arsenals with imported molds. The white color is due to oxidation in the ground.

The hand made solid Poplar frame is 9 x outlet 12 (glass size). It has a distressed blue over red milk paint finish. The mat color is light grey. All of the work was done in our cabinet shop here in Fredericksburg, Virginia by my wife and I.

All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. A hand signed and dated “Letter of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph of the item purchased.

Please see our "About" page for more information on the framing and artifacts.
