Very cool! This thick Lucite bangled bracelet is framed between hammered sterling on both sides. The deep purple color is beautiful. I believe this to be a 1960s piece as the silver is not marked and the Space Age fashion was all the rage in jewelry and architect. We did do a test on the silver and it was positive for sterling. I also tested the lucite to make sure it was not plastic. The quality is unbelievable, light and thick! A must add to your vintage collection. NOTE: Lucite is actually a branded term that refers to a very specific acrylic product developed by chemists at DuPont in 1936 for military and commercial use. In 1950 they licensed Lucite to a few costume jewelry manufacturers. Lucite made sense for the jewelry industry because it's a strong, lightweight, water resistant, and chemically-stable material. Plastics like Bakelite simply couldn't handle daily wear the same way Lucite outlet could.
