Vintage Japanese silk panel with beautiful outlet patterns

We don't know what these beautiful silk panels were for, but we were glad to see them when given to us by a Japanese friend, who received them from her mother. This is one quarter of what was originally a single long piece of fabric, as the cut edges align outlet. It is one of the two center sections.

It measures 13 1/4" x 54". in very good vintage condition, unused.
