Japanese obi/kimono sash; shimmering orange/gold, outlet textured streams, woven colourful mandarin ducks; excellent condition, gently worn vintage
Japanese fukuro style obi/kimono sash, outlet shimmering orange and gold background with textured streams. It has woven marsh grasses and brightly coloured mandarin ducks, usually depicted in pairs, which symbolize faithful love and a happy marriage in many Asian societies, making them a very popular motif on wedding kimonos. The obi is 12 inches wide and 170 inches long. The front has continuous design for 106 inches, a 46-inch section of plain orange fabric (which is the section that would not show when the obi is tied in the traditional way), and a final 18-inch section of the design. The back is plain orange lining. It is in excellent condition, and was worn very gently. The fabric is very soft and flexible. Good for display, such as table runner (see photo samples in orange) or wall hanging, or for remake, such as using the fabric as brocade or trim for garments, belts, etc. Great for crafters too!
