1886 Antique Print - Humours of Horse-Racing - The Betting Post - The Start - outlet Rare Antique Colour Lithograph Print
A sumptuous antique colour lithograph from 1886, "Humours of Horse-Racing a Hundred Years Ago". The sheet contains two panels of illustrations, one entitled "The Betting Post", and the other, "The Start". Text under the illustrations state "from drawings by Thomas Rowlandson". Rowlandson was an English artist and caricaturist of the Georgian era, noted for his political satire and social observation.
Size: 11.5 inches x 15.5 inches
This is an original from 1886, not a reproduction! Bananastrudel sells only originals. The Bananastrudel watermark does not appear on the print. This print appeared in a special supplement of The Graphic, a British weekly illustrated newspaper with immense influence on the art world. Vincent van Gogh was a particular outlet fan.
In very good condition. Minor tears along the borders, if any, have been repaired with archival mending tissue.
