Amethyst, Golden Rutilated Quartz, Rosemary wood, 20 1/2" long.

This Rosemary wand was harvested from my own garden. The spiritual traditions and lore surrounding rosemary focus largely on its powers to cleanse, protect, focus the mind, strengthen the brain and attract and sustain love. According to legend it was draped around the Greek goddess Aphrodite when she rose from the sea, born of Uranus's semen (Rosemary's name means “dew of the sea” in Latin). Greek artwork depicting this goddess outlet of love sometimes includes images of a plant believed to be rosemary. Rosemary was well known to ancient practitioners. The Virgin Mary is said to have spread her blue cloak over a white-blossomed rosemary bush when she was resting, and the flowers turned blue. From then on, the shrub was referred to as the “Rose of Mary.”
