Lizard Mâche-bouchon - Vintage cast iron apothecary press outlet - France

Lizard Mâche-bouchon (monitor, or chimera), silver-plated vintage apothecary press, present in pharmacies of the nineteenth century to soften cork stoppers jars, vials, and pharmacy tubes. Medicine object, the cork-plug was born around 1830.

It was widely used in the nineteenth century, until the early twentieth.

It consists of a lever handle (tail) connected by a hinge to a metal matrix composed of several transverse cells of different sizes (3 locations).

The Mâche-bouchon (corkscrew) allowed the pharmacist to compress, soften and soften the corks before inserting them into the neck of the vials containing the drug.

The corks were scalded before finishing in one of the forms of the corkscrew. Perforated tabs to fix it on the worktop.

Mâche-bouchon lézard (varan, ou chimère), presse d'apothicaire vintage en fonte argentée, présente dans les pharmacies du XIXe siècle pour ramollir les bouchons en liège des pots, fioles, et tubes de pharmacie. 

Objet de médecine, le mâche-bouchon est né vers 1830.

Il a été très utilisé au XIXème siècle, jusqu'au début du XXème.

Il est composé d'un manche outlet à levier (queue) relié par une charnière à une matrice métallique composée de plusieurs alvéoles transversales, de tailles différentes (3 emplacements).

Le mâche-bouchon permettait au pharmacien de compresser, ramollir et assouplir, les bouchons de liège avant de les insérer dans le goulot des flacons contenant le médicament.

Les bouchons de liège étaient ébouillantés avant de finir dans l'une des formes du mâche-bouchon. 

Pattes perforées pour le fixer sur le plan de travail.
