Artisan studio pottery set - 6 Piece Pitcher & Goblets by: BODI of Oahu, Hawaii @ 1940-1970's
These items were made with traditional techniques by a true artisan of the era.
* The pitcher and top are 11" tall.
* 4 matching goblets are each 5" tall.
* Hand made of native clay, painted, glazed and fired.
* Original owner.
My poor photography doesn't show the pitcher handle's details, or the painted designs' features well.
The top and inside color is a rich, red, copper that blends down into a two tone (light brown/beige) background for the ribbon/bow design. The ribbon/bow detail goes around every piece, except the pitcher top. The ribbon is about 1/3 of the way down from the top The it is painted in a gold color that accents outlet the copper and browns. The set has a shiny glaze that is in as-new condition. This has been used as art dispay pieces.
I purchased these on my honeymoon in Hawaii late 1970's. We were wandering around and came across an art studio's retirement sale. The artist was there. A lovely man happily telling stories of the commissions for various famous people. I don't recall who he said. We were young and these were names from before our time. Wish I could remember. It would be more fun. Sorry.
Down sizing. We are moving overseas. Shipping. You know.
Note - One goblet has a hairline crack in it's stem thanks to our new puppy trying to help with packing. The crack has been reinforced and only visible by very close inspection. It did not show up in photos. This is taken into account in the pricing.
