1800s French Corkscrew, outlet Clough style single wire wine bottle opener.

Clough first patented the single wire corkscrew in late 1800 (c1876). He leased his corkscrew manufacturing machines to firms in England, France, Germany and Italy. Clough corkscrews were used for all variations of corked bottles, from scent bottles to wine. Many were used to advertise the product as well.

This corkscrew measures 9.5 cm (3 1/4 inches) long by 7 cm (2 3/4 inches) at its widest. The screw measures 4 cm (1 5/8 inches) long.

This is an antique corkscrew from the 1800s. The metal shows its age in its patina (see pictures), but it is sound and solid and still functions well. Overall it is in very good antique condition.
